A dish, a family, a place that welcomes time.

 

 

Our story begins in 1890, in Pescina, a small village nestled in the gentle hills of Mount Amiata.

Back then, Pescina was a quiet patchwork of farms, where the land spoke softly and life moved slowly.

A spring flowed naturally where a small lake now lies, and nearby, a little chapel watched over the passing seasons.

 

It was in this setting that the “Da Momo” trattoria was born.

A humble stop for those traveling across the Val d’Orcia, the Maremma, and Mount Amiata—on foot, on horseback, carrying stories and dust from the road.

Here, they found a warm meal, a kind word, and the kind of smile that knows what you need before you ask.

 

Among the dishes served, one began to tell a story of its own: Scottiglia.

A rustic stew of mixed meats poured over slices of stale bread—simple, hearty, and full of soul.

 

Then came Zia Palmira, Momo’s daughter, who gave the dish new life.

Her experience in noble kitchens met the traditions of the countryside, and from that meeting, the Scottiglia we know today was born: rich, flavorful, and true.

More than a dish. It became a gesture of love.

 

In 1971, when Palmira stepped away from the stove, Delio and Adina took the reins.

They chose a name that said it all: Hotel Ristorante La Scottiglia.

Because by then, the dish wasn’t just a recipe —

it was the heart of a home, the soul of a family, the voice of a land.

 

For many years after, Magini Noemi kept that heart beating.

With her hands, her presence, her dedication.

Day after day, season after season, she helped this place grow, never losing sight of what mattered most: doing things with heart.

 

Today, we — Massimo and Fabio, cousins and the fifth generation — carry this story forward.

But we’re never alone.

Our family is still here, in every corner, in every gesture.

They’ve always supported us, and still do, every single day.

 

La Scottiglia is not just a restaurant.

It’s not just a hotel.

It’s a place of real connections — where generations of guests have passed through,

each leaving behind a memory, a smile, a little piece of their heart.

Just as we, in our own quiet way, try to leave something with them.
